A guided walkthrough from cold start to a fully protected digital asset.

Get Started

Hitting the app cold? This guide takes you through the exact step-by-step process of securing your first digital asset in Inheribase. We'll cover everything from your initial account creation to inviting your first guardian.

1. Create Your Account

Your Inheribase experience begins at the command hub.

  1. Navigate to app.inheribase.com.
  2. Enter your email address to begin the sovereign identity creation process.
  3. Verify your email using the secure one-time code sent to your inbox.

2. Connect Your Wallet

Inheribase utilizes non-custodial smart accounts to ensure you maintain absolute ownership over your vault.

  1. After email verification, you will be prompted to connect or generate a secure wallet.
  2. The protocol automatically provisions a smart contract wallet for your estate, ensuring your assets are mathematically bound to your identity.
  3. You will receive $1.00 in trial credits automatically to test the platform.

3. Set Up Your Passkey

Passwords can be stolen, forgotten, or breached. Passkeys are tied to your biological footprint or dedicated hardware, providing institutional-grade security.

  1. Click Set Up Passkey when prompted during onboarding.
  2. Use your device's biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello) or a dedicated hardware security key.
  3. This passkey forms the cryptographic root of your encryption. Your assets cannot be decrypted without it.

Save your emergency recovery codes! You will be provided with one-time recovery codes. Store them in a physical safe. If you lose your passkey device, these are your only fallback.

4. Upload Your First File

Now that your vault is mathematically secure, it's time to seal your first asset.

  1. From the dashboard, navigate to the Vault view.
  2. Click Secure Asset (or drag a file directly into the upload zone). Start with something simple, like a scan of an important document or a private text file.
  3. The file is AES-256 encrypted locally in your browser. Inheribase never sees your unencrypted data.
  4. Confirm the upload. The file is sent to the high-speed temporary cache, and then permanently anchored on the Arweave network.

5. Invite Your First Guardian

Your data is fully encrypted, but a true inheritance protocol requires secure recovery and guaranteed delivery. Guardians are the humans who make this possible.

  1. Navigate to the Network tab (or People \u2192 Guardians).
  2. Click Add Guardian.
  3. Select an individual you trust with your legacy (e.g., a spouse, your attorney, or a lifelong friend).
  4. Enter their name and email address. They will receive a secure invitation to hold an encrypted fragment of your master key.
  5. (Optional but recommended) For robust protection, invite two more guardians to complete the standard 2-of-3 Shamir's Secret Sharing threshold.

What's Next?

Congratulations. In under 10 minutes, you have established a non-custodial digital vault, locked an asset with zero-knowledge encryption, and designated a trusted guardian to help recover it.
